Shampoo Bars are a great way to keep your hair clean and healthy. Yes, yes it is quite hard to get used to but it's so worth it!
I've been noticing a good bit of folks giving up on natural shampoo bars simply because they're hard to get used to. A word of advice: Don't Give Up!
I get it! First you've gotta get used to not smoothing liquid through your hair, then your locks may decide to feel very different the first go round.
Your first experience is not always the greatest. This is to be expected. Especially when your hair has been so used to parabens, sulfates and the whole lot of chemicals used to make your hair 'feel' healthy.
One must be patient with the process. So if your hair felt a bit 'gunky' after your first wash. No worries! That is completely normal. It's just your hair saying, "And what the bleep is this!" LOL! And that's where you let her know that there's a new sheriff in town and we're not going to be dealing with these foolish chemicals anymore!
I take it a step further with a nice conditioner for added slip and hassle-free detangling.
If you're still not seeing the results you want, one other option might be to try a different bar.
Cobana Silk used to be my favorite and now I don't think I can live without my Chocolate Lavender Bar. 😩 Between the softening, moisturizing effects of the cocoa powder and the skin calming, follicle stimulating Lavender, my mane sits pretty after every wash.
Your hair may not need moisture like some of ours do. You might be better off with one of our clarifying bars. Sweet Tea Tree or Rosemary Almond would be your best bet.
Adding Apple Cider Vinegar to your regimen will also help big time. I like to use an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse every time I shampoo. If you're feeling a bit extra you can add some Aloe Vera Juice to the mixture. This mixture smooths your cuticles thus adding shine.
Here’s how to do it:
20% of Apple Cider Vinegar and 80% Water
Pour mixture into a spray bottle and leave in your shower
Spray your entire main, root to tip and massage your scalp gently moving toward your ends.
Rinse and use conditioner for detangling.
With that being said, we have a variety of shampoo bars to choose from. Allow your hair time to transition to this new authentic way of life. She'll love you all the more for it 😉
